This one will just be a quick post, I just want to put up a few photos of the places we visited on our third day in Hiroshima.
The first place we visited was Mitaki Temple, a Buddhist temple in a nearby town. It was completely unlike any other temple we have visited thus far, surrounded by greenery, moss and waterfalls. Water from the waterfalls here is used as an offering during the Peace Ceremony. Water is offered as many died of dehydration due to the lack of uncontaminated drinking water after the bombing. With the gentle chatter of the waterfall and the wind in the trees, it was a lovely place to sit for a while and drink in the atmosphere.
The second was Shukkeien Garden. This garden was attached to a museum of modern art, and we (mostly me) decided to pay the little bit extra to get entry to the museum also, before realising why it was that we hadn't been in an art gallery for so long - modern art just doesn't work for either of us. Nevertheless, the garden was beautiful, as long as we kept our gaze down so as not to see the skyscrapers in the background.
