I arrived at 4th period just in time to see a big blue bin hurtling from the back of the room towards the homeroom teacher (HRT). Thankfully, it missed, but it was followed by a very angry kid (Angry Kid #1) determined to use the HRT as a punching bag. The HRT restrained him and tried to remove him from the room, but Angry Kid #2 was simultaneously aiming kicks at the HRTs back, while Angry Kid #1 splayed his limbs across the doorway to defend against his forced removal. Another kid (Judo Kid) arrived on the scene and choked out Angry Kid #2.
I can't quite remember exactly what happened next, but there was a bit of shoving and kicking of furniture, and then a teachers' aid was restraining Angry Kid #1 who was still kicking furniture, and trying very hard to get free to attack the HRT. Meanwhile Angry Kid #2 made a few half hearted attempts to rejoin the fray, but Judo Kid started choking him out again, and after that, Angry Kid #2 limited himself to a bit of shouting.
By this stage, the restraining teacher had maneuvered Angry Kid #1 to the back of the room, but couldn't get him out the door. In the end, she just held him for several minutes while he shouted at the HRT with tears running down his face, still struggling to get at the HRT.
Eventually, the restraining teacher got Angry Kid #1 out of the room. Angry kid #2 did a bit more shouting, with Judo Kid hovering around, obviously keen for another opportunity to choke him out. After only a little bit more fuss, we finally got the remaining kids sitting down, and I got to assume the role of the keen and energetic English teacher, albeit fifteen minutes behind schedule.
Angry Kid #1 did not return to class until a few minutes before the bell. I didn't find out what had triggered the whole event, or indeed, what it was even about.
